Fagus sylvatica ‘Riversii’

Fagus sylvatica ‘Riversii’

Very hardy plant with medium growth. It prefers full sunlight and half-shade. This plant is suitable for large gardens, for creating shrubland and woods (several varieties together), for creating wind breaks and for large avenues and squares, moreover it is wind resistant. Majestic deciduous tree with a straight, sturdy trunk and a conical to broad silhouette in its youth, becoming imposing and rounded in mature specimens. Leaves are intensely red in spring, deep purple-red in summer, and green with red hues in autumn. The flowers are not showy, followed by fruit resembling small nuts, visible when the woody, prickly but not stinging husk containing them splits open. Not very demanding in terms of soil, but it prefers deep, non-compact, fresh, and fertile soils, even those with limestone. It performs best in areas where summers are cool and humid and winters are cold but not freezing.
